De
Department of Surgery consists
of four Surgical Units. Three of them are in Allied Hospital and
one in DHQ Hospital. Details of each unit is given below.

Surgical unit 1 is the teaching
unit of Allied Hospital affiliated with Punjab Medical College
Faisalabad. Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain Dab (FRCS, FCPS) is Head of
Department.

Surgical unit has got 12 slots
for Post graduate Trainees in Surgery and ten job for regular
house surgeons.
The unit has 54 beds which are
further divided into Emergency, Critical Care, Laparoscopic and
Septic bays.
This unit is actively involved in
teaching and training of under-graduates and post-graduates. It
has got the distinct honor of training 20 post-graduates for
their FCPS AND FRCS/MRCS and one of masters in surgery.
Continued Medical Education (CME) is an important feature of the
unit. In this respect, the unit holds regular small group
discussions, clinicopathalogical Presentations and Seminars with
objectives of professional development and improvement of
patient care.

Surgical unit 1 has got a well
established library and also has been provided with internet
facility. Academic activities are always encouraged in the ward.
The consultants of unit present their research work in National
and International Conferences. Their Original Research work is
published regularly.
Laparoscopic surgery is regularly
performed by the word about 7 different operations are being
done laparoscopically. Other specialties include thyroid suroid
surgery. Gastroesophageal surgery and thoracic surgery
particularly subtotal Esophagectomy. Thoracotomy and
decortication for which any patients come with references from
other cities.

Punjab Medical College Faisalabad. Prof. Dr. Javeed Athar is the incharge of the unit. Other members are:
