Annual Sports Day 2009

Event Report by: Sabeen Fatima (Final Yr)

To mark the end of Sports activities, PMC’s ever famous “Annual Sports Day” was held on 18th March, 2009 in the PMC Cricket Stadium attended by many auspicious and venerated Doctors from our faculty along with some other retired faculty members, which made the day even more colorful.

The day started off with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Zaman Malik (2nd year) around 09:00 AM. Around loam the arena was full of colors and bright smiles every where. Each class had done its utmost efforts to out beat the other. The colors allotted to different classes were:

·        RED (Final Year)

·        Pink (Fourth Year)

·        Yellow (Third Year)

·        Blue (Second Year)

·        Purple (First Year)

Keeping up with the PMC’s old tradition, every class made its entry in a very different and peculiar manner which was a real treat to watch. Every one was stunned and dumb stuck to see the Second year boys coming on Camels to the ground. The Hawaiian theme of Third year together with their garlands and surfing boards made every one feel jealous and what to talk about Fourth year, a few of them came claded in Arafat Scarfs and Cigars, some depicting the multiple movie costume theme and still more with Pink Ties & Tattoos on their forearms. The girls were dressed in pink Dresses and had Parandas binding their hair which depicted the Village theme.

The Final year looked Fabulous in 60’s theme.

The crowd was as usual entertained by the light hearted commentary of Dr. Asghar Butt & Dr. Riaz. As the Dhol beat kept raising & the boys dancing to the Bhangara beat, the prize distribution ceremony for different Sports sections took place.

In between the ceremony, the audience was entertained by the song of Salman (1st year) & Zubair (3rd year). Dance from the 4th year Boys; Zain, Taimoor & Awais added to the beauty of the occasion. A skit was done by Ahsan & Atta (3rd year) followed by their dance.

To indulge the teachers present at the ceremony, musical chair and tug of war was held. Prof. Dr. Obaidullah Khwaja (Ex-Principal, PMC) won the musical chair competition and Doctors of the Clinical Department were the winners of the tug of war event.

In between the classes were served with refreshments to keep them fresh and enthusiastic. The best class trophy was won by Final Year. From boys best athlete was Farhan Nadeem(4th year) and best Sports man was Usman Bajwa (Final year). From the girls, best athlete award went to Nida Javaid (Final year).

At the end, the Principal Of PMC, Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain Dab gave his closing speech and announced the day off on Saturday, 21st March 2009. He also announced the Anuual Dinner to be given to Final year and their class trip.

The farewell song by Ahsan Zahid (Final year) made all the Final year nostalgic and filled their eyes with tears.

As the ceremony ended the photo-shoot session lingered on for a while and it seemed as though the Final year didn’t want to leave the stadium since it was their last Sports Day at PMC, but like they always say that ALL GOOD THINGS HAVE TO END ONE DAY so every one bid farewell to one another and proceeded towards their homes joyous and happy.
