Punjab Medical College's most newest, innovative and informative
society SCOPE has organized a successful symposium under the
dynamic patron ship of Prof. Dr.
Riaz Hussain Dab on
14th may
2010 in the PMC auditorium. Rationale
of arranging this symposium was to create awareness and endow
the students with information as regards professional education
after M.B;B.S and B.D.S. It is hoped that the symposium will be
of assistance in guiding students choose an appropriate field
for themselves.
The symposium commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran and
Naat. It was followed by a miraculous inauguration of SCOPE by
final year. The synchronized display of investiture was beyond
conviction and was successful in grabbing the attention of the
whole auditorium. Then began the remarkable succession of career
counselling and skits to provide counselling encroached by the
swathe of entertainment. First the Head of surgery department Prof. Dr.
Riaz Hussain
Dab was
invited on stage to pour his knowledge on the field of surgery
and guide us in choosing the right career. Then Professor
Dr.Sajid sheikh was called on stage to present his idea of field
counselling that was responded well by the whole audience. He
had a way to work the students and left a great notion on the
students about surgery. Professor Dr. Ashraf gave
an imposing detail about his experience and again gave points
that would assist the students to make biochemistry on roll of
their preferred specialties.
It was followed by a startling skit
that portrayed the importance and scope for female surgeons in
Pakistan that was well admired by the spectators. Presentation
on Radiology was given by Prof. Dr.Mehdi Raza that really
motivated the students to choose radiology as a specialty. It
was followed by an awe-inspiring video by final year. Each scene
roared humour and uplifted the whole environment. It was enjoyed
by the viewers due the alluring humour and a moral that is
usually ignored by the people i.e. to do justice with your
profession. Head of E.N.T department Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali
Tirmizey gave an astounding presentation on E.N.T that was
esteemed by everyone. He gracefully revealed all the good points
and the drawbacks of E.N.T. This honest presentation helped the
confused students to make their mind about the vocation they
want to adapt and make E.N.T a profession that would help
contour their future. A skit was well carried out by the
students on the relevant topic about a father that wanted his
son to be an E.N.T specialist despite his passion for cardiology
but at the end the father eventually learns that a bittergord
can never taste good no matter how much it is spiced.
Urology
was given importance by the head of Urology department Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal that gave a clear picture of the scope of urology in
today’s world. Then Plastic surgeon Prof.Dr. Zahid Nagra gave an
extraordinary presentation on plastic surgery that gathered
enthusiasm of the already engrossed students. Another well
thought out skit was performed by the scope members that gave a
comical idea of how plastic surgery can change life of a person
and how it can fabricate self-confidence in the patients that
have suffered a long dark period of inferiority complex.
Following it was an instigating presentation about B.D.S by
Prof.Dr.Badar n Dr.Asif that helped the B.D.S students boost up
their confidence about their choice of profession. Finally a few
words by the supervisor Dr. Mussarat-ul-hussain were delivered.
The event ended by scope website launching. Everyone is welcome
to join it by just logging onto WWW.SCOPEPMC.COM.
The website will be made active on Monday, 17th may
