PMC bears home to yet
another visionary in the form of the New Professor of Surgery, In
charge of Surgical Unit II, Professor Dr. Javed Athar. He has
many a brilliant ideas one of which was to provide a recreational
breather, in the form of a tour, to those diligent Doctors of his
ward who serve to heal others. Like Galen, the Greek Physician and
scholar said,
“Surgery is the ready
motion of steady and experienced hands”.
He also believes in
healthy student teacher interaction so that the future doctors can
be trained for the challenges they are to face ahead in their
professional lives. As a result final year students were also a
part of this tour which was taken on 22nd of September
2010.
Great effort on
behalf of the doctors and students went into organizing this
project but the man who single handed managed everything up to the
minutest details was Professor Dr. Javed Athar. Every aspect was
designed to cater to the comfort of the attendees. People like Dr.
Imran Qadir(Chief Organizer), Zain-ur-Rehman (Students
coordinator) Dr. Romela Bhatti (Manager), Dr.Tamseel Ahsan
(Transport Coordinator), Dr. Fawad Munawar (Sports Incharge),
Atiqa Mahmood (Music & Entertainment), Arshi Arif , Ahsan
Arif(Food Coordinator), Nazia (Indoor Games) worked under the
direction of Dr. Javed Athar to make this an unforgettable event.
The tour started
promptly as per schedule and a high spirited and fun journey led
to the first destination Head Balloki Water Works. The beauty of
the view and the ability of the attendees to admire its
technicalities were the main attractions of the stop over. The
next stop on the tour was Asia’s largest man-made forest Chaanga
Maanga. Nature’s beauty in its purest form generated a soothing
milieu. Boating, hiking and Swimming were the main doings in
Chaanga Maanga forests. A private Power Generation Plant was
alsovisited, an informative tour of which was nutriment to the
scientific minds out on a leisurely endeavor. Final destination of
the tour was PTDC Canal Rest House, Head Balloki, where a freshly
made scrumptious lunch was served followed by games. Boys played
friendly football and cricket matches whereas girls enjoyed
badminton. An electrifying atmosphere of merrymaking and festivity
was all around.
All in all the
comfortable travel, skilled management, delectable food and
appropriateness of the venue’s made this tour into a remarkably
tremendous event, not to be forgotten in a long time.
Felicitations to the organizers for something so marvelous!
