THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF PARWAZ 2009 &

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION OF SPORTS 2010

17^th of June, 2010 was the day when the launching ceremony of college magazine ‘Parwaz 2009’ took place along with the prize distribution of the sports. These two are the major creativity centres for the students of Punjab Medical College, the magazine for written creativity and sports for the physical creativity. The function started at 1:00 pm sharp with the arrival of our worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain Dubb. The Commissnor of Faisalabad Mr. Tahir Hussain blessed the ceremony with his presence as Chief Guest. The Respected Principal, Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Janbaz Ahmad (Chairman Literary Society), Prof. Dr. Tasneem Cheema, Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal (Chairman Sports) and Mr. Tauseef Awan (Chief Editor Parwaz 2009) were seated on the stage. Other teachers also graced the ceremony with their presence. They are Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Prof. Dr. Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Imtiaz Abdur Rahim, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Saeed, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Tirmizi, Dr. Zafar Hussain, Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Dr.Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, Dr. Riaz, Dr. Najaf Imtiaz Gill, Dr.Musarrat and others.

The stage was conducted by Awais Saeed Abbasi (final yr) and Atiqa Mahmood (final yr). Hafiz Muhammad Yasin (2^nd yr) was called on stage for recitation of Holy Quran and Misbah Munshi (final yr) to pay homage to Prophet (SAW). As it was the launching ceremony of college magazine so as a whole it had a literary touch. Marvellous pieces of poetry were presented by students in all three languages published in Parwaz. Faiza Iqbal (final yr) recited a beautiful poem in Urdu, Awais Saeed Abbasi (final yr) presented a poem titled’Kashmir’ which deeply touched the heart of everyone. Abrar haider (4^th yr) amused the audience with his funny Punjabi poem. Then Dr. Tauseef Awan (Chief Editor Parwaz 2009) was invited to share his experience of the whole journey in the editing and publishing of magazine. This was followed by the address of Prof. Dr. Janbaz Ahmad, who expressed his pleasure by giving direction to the flood of creativity among medical students and to provide them with an opportunity to express their creativeness in a polished manner. He also shared a ‘ghazal’ that was enjoyed and well applauded by the audience. Respected Principal blessed the audience with his kind words and appreciated the efforts of the teachers as well as students in the publication of this great piece of art. Our worthy Chief Guest Mr. Tahir Hussain also addressed and provoked the students to further participate in such healthy co-curricular activities. A few verses were said by him who were enjoyed the most among the audience. Then the segment of prize distribution of Parwaz 2009 took place. Shields were presented by Prof. Dr. Riaz Hussain Dubb, Prof. Dr. Janbaz Ahmad (Chairman Literary Society) and Prof. Dr. Tasneem Cheema to the co-editors, sub editors, editors and chief editor of Parwaz 2009. Then the members from teacher’s side were also presented shields by the Chief Guest. Shields were also presented to the Chairman Literary Society, Principal Sir and Chief Guest. This was followed by a thanking note by Dr. Najaf Imtiaz Gill who showed his gratitude towards the worthy Principal, the Chief Guest and all other guests.

The next segment was of sports prize distribution. The Captains of various games, the Sports day Organizers and the Chief Organizers were presented shields. Prof. Dr. Zahid Iqbal (Chairman Sports) addressed the students and thanked the Chief Guest for his presence. Then the guests were served with refreshments. In this way this function ended.
