NATIONAL ENT CONFERENCE

Pakistan
society of otorhinolaryngology Faisalabad chapter organized
the state of art 22nd national ENT conference in the Manchester of
Pakistan i.e. Faisalabad that proved to be an exceptional
opportunity not only to exchange the information but also to
update the cutting edge technology in care of ENT diseases. The
traditional hospitality of the people of Faisalabad accomplished
to craft a memorable event that will be cherished forever by the
people that attended the conference.
The 22nd
national ENT conference started off on 26th
November 2010 that lasted for 3 days and ended on 28th
November 2010.
FIRST DAY
The national ENT
conference commenced with execution of well thought out workshops
at eye theatre of Allied Hospital Faisalabad that was projected in
the Eye ward for the audience. Master trainers were

P.S. SAHARIA (INDIA) And IQBAL KHAN (U.K)
The first session
started at 11am. First session was endoscopic sinus surgery for a
patient of nasal polyp that was supervised by Davinder rai. It was
well appreciated by all the ENT specialists that participated in
that conference. After a refreshing tea break began the second
session that was live septorhinoplasty for deviated nose by PS
Saharia was that proved to be a great sensation among the doctors
as they got greatly benefited from the demonstration.
After the second
session there was a short lunch break followed by Jumma prayer.
Then there was
workshop on temporal bone dissection workshop that was supervised
by Iqbal Khan and he also introduced cochlear implant as a new
hope for the patients suffering from a complete congenital or
acquired deafness. Cochlear implant is a new leap in the field on
technology for the patients of hearing loss that derive no benefit
from the conventional hearing aid. it was followed by a panel
discussion on the uses of cochlear implant by Iqbal Khan, Kamil
Muzaffir and Tariq Rafi that concluded the first day of the
conference.
SECOND DAY
On second day the inaugural ceremony was
organized at NAQAASH hall of Serena Hotel on 27th
November 2010.
First there was an implausible state of the
art lecture about the recent
advances in endoscopic surgery in ENT
by Dr.Davinder Rai that was
esteemed by everyone in the audience.
It was followed by inaugural ceremony. After all the chairpersons
i.e. General secretary Prof.Umar Farooq, President
PSORL Prof.Tariq Rafi, Principle Punjab Medical College Dr. Riaz
Hussain Dub, Chief guest Prof.Malik Hussain
Mubashir vice chancellor, Guest of honor Prof. Kamil Muzzafar,
Chairman organizing committee Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmad Mian and
general secretary organizing committee Prof. Dr. M. Ali Tirmizey
were seated the ceremony
started that commenced with Name of ALLAH for which the comparer
called on stage . This conference was
contradictory to the usual tradition of Qirat and naat in that
Mr.Farooq Ahmad Mian chairman organizing committee recited few
verses from holy Quran before the lecture and Mr. Syed M. Ali
Tirmizey general secretary organizing committee recited Naat.
Then there was a Welcome Address by the
chairman organizing committee prof.mian farooq ahmad in which he
gave his warm welcome to everyone that contributed their valuable
time for this conference. it was followed by thought provoking
addresses of Prof.Dr. Umer. Farooq, Prof. Dr. Tariq rafi,
Principle pmc Prof.Dr.Riaz Hussain dub. Prof. Malik Hussain
Mubashir and guest of honor prof. Dr. Kamil Muzzaffar that truly
showed their devotion towards the promotion of such academic
events.
Then general secretary organizing committee
Prof. Dr .M. Ali tirmizey was called on stage to put into words
his vote of thanks to all the people involved in this conference.
He expressed his gratitude towards all the distinguished guests
including the people that went
beyond borders to attend this conference proving that such
academic activities know no boundaries.
Shields were given out as
a token of appreciation to all the deserving personalities by the
general secretary organizing
committee Prof. Dr .M. Ali tirmizey. Tea was served and also
stalls were set by various pharmaceutical companies that consisted
of games like ENT cricket, dart and many more that was enjoyed by
everyone.
General body meeting
was held at 6 pm where people were elected for the prestigious
posts in the organizing committee .after unopposed election Prof.
Farooq Ahmed Mian and Prof. Muhammad Ali Tirmizey were elected as
the President and General Secretary of Pakistan society of
otorhinolaryngology respectively . Next conference is decided to
be organized in Khyber Pakhtoon Khua under the supervision of
Prof. Shahideen who will be the chairman organizing committee.
Gala dinner was
organized at the Head office of Saffron where Sana, Jamil Fakhri
and Anwar
Rafi were invited to
display their vocal talents that still echoes in the mind of the
spectators Everyone in the audience enjoyed the event to its
fullest irrespective of age and designation. A very lavish dinner
was served that concluded the 2nd day of conference.
THIRD DAY
A series of state of
the art lectures were presented by
Dr.
Rashid Zia( AIMC, Lahore) , Dr.Iqbal Khan,
Prof. Manzoor Ahmed,
Prof. Kamil Muzzafir. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ajmal. Prof. Dr. Salim
Marfani and Dr. Faisal Bilal Lodhi ( Assoc. Professor Surgery
PMC). More than 70 free papers were read out in the
conference. The conference concluded with closing ceremony.
