Establishment of
Pakistan
Physiological
Society in Punjab Medical College was only due to the efforts
of Prof Tasneem Cheema and Dr. Hamayun Ikram. They motivated the
students to indulge them in research activities. Now the society
is run by students under the guidance of Physiology Department.
The basic aim of the society is to develop student's interest
in research work. Students take their own research projects and
after completion they are given opportunities to represent their
work. For this purpose society make efforts to arrange an Undergraduate
Research Conference every year where medical students from all
over Punjab are invited to represent their research work. Best
paper is selected and Gold Medal is given to the best Research
Paper.
Society is Linked to the Pakistan Physiological Society Main.
So members are also allowed to present their work at conferences
held by Pakistan Medical Association and Pakistan Physiological
Society in other medical colleges.
Until now students
of the society has completed more than 20 research projects that
has been presented all over Pakistan. Some of them had won best
paper prizes and were highly appreciated all over the country.
