The
Department of Physiology started its working in 1973 in a very
limited space provided by the University of Agriculture
Faisalabad. This department shifted in 1982 to its present new
campus building. Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, M.B.B.S., M.Sc. became
the first head of the Department, followed by Prof. Nasir A.
Bashir, MSc., Ph.D. and later by Prof. Dr. Tasneem Cheema,
M.B.B.S., M.D.
The Department of Physiology is equipped with sophisticated
laboratory for undergraduate students. The laboratory
has modern scientific equipment like Audiometer, Spirometers,
Vitallograph and a new addition with a number of parameters
called a Power-lab. This instrument shall be beneficial for the
diagnostic assignments like EMG, EEG, ECG and respiratory
physiologic calculations. The department has also been equipped
with the latest audiovisual aids, for the facilitation of
teachers and students both. The department is actively engaged
in research activities. One of the teachers is doing doctorate
in Physiology while other teachers are enrolled as students of
M.Phil.

Students
too are involved in research activities and poster exhibitions
etc. This department has a book bank, which donates textbooks to
the deserving students of the first professional every year.
The next International Physiology Biennial Conference going to
be held in 2008, will Insha-Allah be hosted by this Department
in Faisalabad, which is a great honor for this institution.
Dr. Arif
Mohy ud Din, the Associate professor is on deputation to Saudi
Arabia,. Dr. Zafar Hussain is working as an Assistant Professor.
He has published ten volumes on multiple choice questions (MCQs)
on all topics of Physiology as well as Anatomy of upper and
lower limbs and a notebook on Experimental Physiology.
