25th March 2010

PAKISTAN DAY

Report by: Jamila Ali (2nd Yr)

Pakistan day was successfully organized by the literary and debating society under the dynamic Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Janbaz Ahmad (Head of Pathology Department) on 25th march 2010. The function commenced with the opening speech of Dr. Khalid Mehmood (Anatomy department). A well applauded speech was given by Arifa Javed (final yr), Muneeb aftab (3rd yr) and Memoona Shabbir (2nd yr) that revived the true spirit of Pakistan day. A well thought-out talk show was arranged in which Prof. Dr. Hafiz Imtiaz Abdul-Raheem( HOD Anatomy), Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmad (HOD E.N.T)  Dr. Mohammad Qasim (medical officer in Jinnah hospital) and Dr. Ahsan-ul-haq (Cardiologist from U.S.A) poured their thoughts and feelings on the questions raised by the host (Arifa Javed). The talk show proved to be a very imperative part of the event enlightening the devoted feelings of our guests towards their motherland that was greatly admired by the audience.  Focusing on the destitutions our forefathers had to endure and the attitude of the present generation towards their country a miraculous skit was pulled out by the 2nd yr students Jamila Ali, Rabia Javed and Memoona Shabbir. The skit perfectly portrayed the present generation and how a glimpse of the past changed their attitude and converted the rage of revulsion to an essence of patriotism bringing tears to the eyes of the spectators. During the skit a movie was shown that showed the hardships of our forefathers that never cribbed on what was given to us by Pakistan.

The whole atmosphere took us back to the era of Pakistan establishment.  Another skit well performed by 1st yr depicted the theme f Pakistan day. It was a brilliant demonstration of how the present nation is devoid of the warmth of humanity that used to run in the veins of Pakistanis when Pakistan was first founded. The basic idea revolved around a civil officer that was a true exemplar of Pakistanis in 1947 but by the time 2010 all the patriotic elements gradually eliminated and he became an egotistical officer. The cherry on top was the entrance of Quaid-e-Azam that entered the stage and condemned the present attitude of our nation. Genesis the band (Saud and Asad 2nd yr), Saman (1styr) and Asma and Armaghan (4th yr) intoned our evergreen mili naghme drenched in the spirit of nationalism.  A remarkable display of their vocal talents evoked the true essence of Pakistan day. Moreover a poem enlightening the present atrocities of Pakistan was delivered by Amna Liaqat(1st yr BDS). The poem ended on a hope that our country will approach a new level of accomplishment. A startling speech was given by the guest of honor Prof. Ghulam Rasool Tanvir. Highlighting the inspirational life of Quaid-e-Azam he proved that great nations are founded only by a great leader. He excavated the buried facts that flabbergasted the audience and brought a new aroma of Pakistan day to the stage. Our worthy principal also stated a few valuable words on this event.

Prizes were distributed to Arifa Javed (final yr) for securing 2nd position in bilingual declamation competition in N.F.C, Ahsan Mehndi(4th yr) for securing 1st position in all Pakistan trilingual declamation competition in Fatimah Jinnah Medical College Lahore, Abrar hussain (3rd  yr) 1st in mushaira held in Fatimah Jinnah Medical College Lahore and Awais Saeed Abbasi 2nd position in Mushaira in N.F.C by reciting the verses written by Abrar hussain (3rd yr). The function was graced by the presence of Prof. .Dr. Tasneem Cheema (HOD physiology), Dr. Ishfaq Cheema (physiology),  Prof. Dr .Mohammad Ashraf (HOD Biochemistry) Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Doger (HOD Psysciatry), Dr. Samina Javed (Biochemistry Department), Dr. Amra (Biochemistry Department).
