Department
of Orthopedics Surgery of Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad,
was established in DHQ Hospital in 1979, Faisalabad. It was
shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, in 1996. it consists of
54 beds, operation theatre complex and an out patients

Operation
theatre complex is comprising of three operation theatre with
five operating tables. We have all the modern facilities
including image intensifier, fracture tables and modern drill
system. Unit takes emergencies seven days a week and deals with
all sorts of limb and spinal trauma patients, joint
replacements, Polio surgery, Spinal surgery and reconstructive
limb surgery including interlocking, nailing plating. Partial
hip replacement is done routinely thrice a week. Recently
Department has introduced sign interlocking nailing system
imported from USA. This facility is provided to the poor patient
free of cost. Replacement of these nails is carried out from USA
on regular basis.
Department
is running very busy out patients twice a week. In year 2005
total 28287 patients were seen in out patient, and 3182 patients
were admitted in the ward. About 2900 operations were performed
in regular lists which is thrice week and in emergency.
Seven
Orthopedics residents along with one surgical resident are
undergoing a structured training programme in the unit.
Department is conducting a monthly scientific meeting regularly
in which all the Orthopedic Consultants of the city are invited
for discussion of complicated and difficult problems of
patients. Department is' providinguptodatekl1owledge and skills
by regular workshops and training programme.
