Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery of Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad was
established in DHQ Hospital, Faisalabad. It was shifted in
Allied Hospital Faisalabad in 1996. It consists of 54 beds,
operation theater complex and Out Patient Department.

Operation
theater complex is comprising of three operation theaters with
four operating tables. We have all the modern facilities
including image intensifier, fracture tables and modern drill
systems. Unit takes emergency seven days a week and deals with
all sorts of limb and spinal trauma patients. Joint
replacements, Polio Surgery, Spinal Surgery and reconstruction
limb surgery including interlocking nailing, plating and partial
hip replacement is done routinely thrice week. Department has
introduced sign interlocking nailing system imported from U.S.A.
This facility is provided to the poor patients free of cost.
Replacement of these nails is carried out from USA.

Department
is running very busy out patients twice a week in Allied
Hospital and DHQ Hospital. In 2008, 33438 patients were seen in
OPD. 2725 patients were admitted in the ward and 1846 operations
were done.
Twelve
Orthopaedics postgraduate residents along with two General
Surgery residents are undergoing structured training program in
the unit. Department is conducting monthly scientific meeting
regularly in which all the Orthopaedic consultants of the city
are invited for discussion.
Recently
20 bedded Orthopaedic ward is established in DHQ Hospital
Faisalabad to look after the Orthopaedic patients of DHQ
Hospital.
