Vision:

Department of Medical Education was initially started as an office under the supervision of professor Dr. Riaz Hussain Dab, head of surgery. The team comprised of Dr. Imtaiz Dogar. Head of psychiatry and Dr. Khurram Suhail Raja, Assistant Prof. Forensic. Prof. Riaz Hussain and both the doctors had completed various workshops in different areas of Medical Education, to join the college. After his consent, professor Asghar Ali Randhawa, principal, Punjab medical college, recommended the transfer of Dr. Mussarat to Punjab medical college.

The department of Medical Education was formally started on 24^th april,2008. A joint faculty including Dr. Khalid Mahmood, head of anatomy department, Dr. Imtiaz Dogar, head of psychiatry department, Dr. Safdar Sial Associate professor, urology, Dr. zafar hussain, associate professor Physiology and Dr. Khurram Suhail Raja, Assistant Professor, forensic medicine was formed. Miss amen bukhari, system administrator, computer research and resource center is faculty for IT programmes.

Achievements:

DEPARTMENT OF MEDICAL EDUCATION has following achievements and milestones:
1. Conducting worshops on research methodology and biostatics; communication skills; integration of curriculum; problem based learning; and MCQ development.
2. A course on computer skills has been started and first batch of senior professors have completed it.
3. The director of the department represented UHS in annual conference of Allama Iqbal Medical College. He has facilitated workshops for faculty development in UHS.
4. The department had a post poster presentation of a study on ; use of mobile sms as research tool; in international conference of Medical Education in Islamabad.
5. The department has been assigned the task of making the working plan for the faculty training programme of the entire faculty in affiliated colleges of UHS.
6. A series of courses on research Methodology and Biostatistics is being finalized as or a regular event in the college.
7. Structuring of the house job /internship is under process.
