Obstetrics & Gynecology Department consists of three separate units.

Obstetrics & Gynecology Department consists of three teaching units, two working in Allied Hospital and one in DHO Hospital. The whole Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is headed by Professor Mahmood Aleem. Unit-I is working in Allied Hospital. It is a tertiary care hospital receiving emergencies from Faisalabad Division and its adjacent rural population. Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-I is headed by Professor Mahmood Aleem. Dr. Sarwat Ara is Assistant professor Dr. Tasnim Tahira and Dr. Shagufta Javaid are working as Senior Registrar. There are 10 postgraduate trainees, 6 house officers in the unit. There are 56 beds in the ward. It is a busy unit and undertaking about 3500-4000 deliveries per year.

This unit was first started in 31.03.87, by Professor Altaf Bashir who was a very well known Gynecologist and worked very hard in community towards lowering the maternal mortality and since then this unit has progressed and still works towards the initial aim of lowering maternal, prenatal mortality and morbidity. Staff of the unit include Dr. Samina Khalid, Assistant Professor, 13 Registrar and 21 Resident House Surgeons.

Full facilities are available for operative deliveries and there is an emergency O.T. available for emergency caesarean section. An anesthetist is on call 24 hours a day and backup facilities for blood transfusion and laboratory tests are also present and laboratory tests are also present.

There are separate areas for:-

1) 1st stage room

2) Eclampsia room

3) Delivery suite.

Gynae operation theatre is an independent theatre which is fully air conditioned and has four working operation tables with anesthesia machines. Sterilization is by a central plant. The theatre area is marked and every one enters it after changing to maintain sterilization. The gynae O.T. is fully equipped with the latest hi-tech e.g. laparoscope, hysteroscopy, colposcope. There are facilities for prenatal diagnosis. There are facilities for prenatal diagnosis of congenital anomalies like chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis.

The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Unit-II is also working in Allied Hospital, Faisalabad. It is headed by Professor Mahmood Aleem. Dr. Sumera Tahir and Naila Yasmin are Assistant Professors. Dr. Shazia Shaheen is senior Registrar. There are 12 postgraduate trainees and 6 house officers in the unit. The unit is actively involved in teaching & training of under and post graduates. There is a well furnished class room for discussions and medical presentation in the Unit-II. There are 56 beds in the ward.

There is a labor ward which is common for Unit-I and II. There is a first stage room with 8 beds and an Eclampsia room with 6 beds. There are 4 delivery rooms equipped with central 02 supply and suction facilities. For fetal surveillance, CTG & ultrasound machines are available.

Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit-III is situated at DHO Hospital, Faisalabad. It is also headed by Professor Mahmood Aleem. Dr. Robina Ali is working as Assistant Professor Dr. Shaista Nagra and Dr. Farida Sardar are District Gynecologist. There are 10 Postgraduate trainees and 8 house officers working in the Unit. The indoor department has 60 beds divided into 3 sections, the Gynecology, antenatal & postnatal wards. There is a labor suit providing 24 hours emergency facility 7 days a week. There is an operation theatre with 3 functioning section for both emergency and elective surgical procedures.
