The session started with a mime, presented by Department of Psychology Government College University Faisalabad. This session was chaired by Dr. Asif Iqbal, Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalabad. Patients their family members, general public and journalists showed keep interest and many questions were asked. The questions were answered by a panel of expert psychiatrists from all over the country. The Moderator for the session was Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ijaz Anwar, renowned family Physician of the region.

The session started with recitation of Holly Quran. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar presented the Welcome Address, Prof. Dr. Riaz Bhatti president Elect presided the meeting and gave the Presidential Address. Than Principal Punjab Medical College Prof. A. G. Rehan who was guest of honors presented brief speech about history of Psychiatry Department and also welcomed the guests and participants being patron of the Organizing Committee. The last speaker was our chief guest was the Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Lahore Prof. Dr. Malik Hussian Mubbashar. He discussed at length the history of Psychiatry in Pakistan and analyzed the achievements and shortcomings of Pakistan Psychiatric Society, Psychiatrists and Psychiatric patients. He talked about mental health act, federal mental health authority, National program for mental health and present scenario of psychiatrists with relation to the damaging earth quake disaster. In the end he congratulated PPS Executive Committee and Organizing Committee of 16th National Psychiatric Conference.

The Inaugural ceremony was followed by the Theme Lecture, which was artistically delivered by Brig. Dr. Mowadat Rana (Advisor in Psychiatry) Head of Psychiatry Department, Military Hospital Rawalpindi.
