Message from Dr. Tahir Ali Javed (Minister of Health, Govt. of Punjab.) It is my immense pleasure to send a message at the 5th Convocation of PMC, Faisalabad to be held in Oct. 2005, the principal & faculty deserve to be congratulated on this occasion. This is a memorable occasion for the new graduates. It is an occasion when their efforts are recognized and awarded. It is especially of particular importance to the proud parents of these young doctors, I wish them all the best. However, the young doctors must remember their aim to server the ailing humanity in their practical life. The main purpose of the medical education is to sensitize the medical faculty about the latest changes & the progress being taken place in the field of medical science and to encourage the doctors / teachers to develop and prop up research oriented environment in the medical / scientific education. The present regime is working hard to develop and modernize the medical education syllabus according to latest demands and requirements. The Govt. will provide inland & outland opportunity of training to doctors’ community in co-operation with donor agencies for additional resources, as the medical community is the back bone of health care delivery especially in rural areas. The Govt. had already increased monthly stipend of trainee specialist doctors from rupees 6000/- to Rs. 10000/-. Besides, steps are under way to improve the service structure of doctors. The prime duty of medical professional is to provide basic health facilities to the people at their door steps. The present regime has provided record budget Rs. 16 billion to the health department and has launched three new medical college besides enhancing seats in existing medical colleges where as KEMC has been up graded to the medical University. The required budget would be provided to the medical institutions for research oriented activities.

Message from Prof. Mehmood Ahmad (Chairman Board of Governors UHS Lahore.) Convocation is always a significant milestone in the developmental history of any Education Institute. Whereas it provides us an occasion of joy and satisfaction, it is also a moment of thought and recollection to reflect upon our performance to plan for the future. This is equally true for the Graduating Doctors, as well as for the institution. Whereas, I congratulate the fresh graduates, I also wish to apprise them of their responsibilities in the year to come. Soon they would also share our realization of the need to modernize the Medical Education in Pakistan, in particular the subjects of basic sciences of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and those of emerging faculties of Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology and Genetics etc. The institution of research in Medical and Health Sciences and higher education in Nursing have also been long neglected. It was the realization and a desire to fulfill this gap that led to the establishment of the University of Health Sciences. The University has a strong focus at improving the quality of education and research in these fields, producing qualified faculty for the Medical Colleges and other Health Institutions. We also aim at ensuring the highest standard of our education and International recognition and respect for our degrees, through a reliable, trustworthy& transparent system of examination. I sincerely hope& expect that the new generation of fresh Medical Graduates shall lend us a helping hand at achieving these goals and would be successful in fields, where we failed. I wish all of you a success in life.

Message from Prof. Dr. A. G. Rehan (Principal of Punjab Medical College) Convocations are milestones of growth of an institution. They stand for the fruit harvesting festivals. On this ceremonious occasion I have nothing but to stretch myself taller with the pride of performance of my colleagues and students and bow down humbly to say “Thank you lord, for being so kind.” Masha Allah this institute has come a long way achieving this goal we set in the start. Look at the dawn as it is brightening the horizon of medical education. It is a new day. It is your day, far ahead of me.
