Department
of Dermatology, Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad is under
Prof. Dr. Tariq Rasheed and other staff members include Dr.
Shahid Javaid Akhtar, Dr. Muhammad Arif Maan, Dr. Aneela Asghar,
eleven resident medical officers and four house officers.
The
department started in 1983 in DHQ Hospital, Faisalabad. The
Department conducts regular OPDs at Allied & DHQ Hospitals
Faisalabad where more than 200 patients are seen daily. The
in-patient unit at DHQ Hospital now consists of 30 beds. It is
recognized for training in FCPS Dermatology and rotational
training in allied disciplines. Currently there are four
residents undergoing their training for DCPS. Four trainees have
passed FCPS and one DCPS Examination (2005-2006).

In
addition to the outdoor care of the skin patient. The
Dermatology Department is providing specialized facilities like
electro surgery, epilation, cryosurgery, skin surgical
procedures, patch testing, mycology and photo chemotherapy for
benefit of ailing humanity. Latest equipment like intense pulse
light system is also available and in near future LASER will
also be available in the department. It is actively involved in
academic and research activities and has many
local/international publications to its credit. It also hosted
the 12th International Conference of Dermatology in October,
2002.
Department
regularly holds workshops on sexually transmitted disease for
doctors of Government dispensaries and rural health centers in
collaboration with District Health Development Center Faisalabad
and is coordinating with provincial AIDS Control Program Punjab
to control AIDS in Pakistan.
