               Arts Exhibition (Event report)

On the 6^th and 7^th of March Punjab medical college witnessed its first ever arts exhibition. This exhibition was organized by Netizens and Performing Arts Club. Netizens once again assuming its role of trendsetters put together an unthinkable event in the backdrop of P.M.C. The college administrates especially our worthy Principal Professor Dr. Riaz Hussain Dhubh played a positive role and heartily appreciated the efforts of Netizens. Another patron whose efforts cannot be anyhow overlooked is Professor Dr. Imtiaz Dogar. He single handedly supervised the whole event efficiently.

The inauguration ceremony of the arts exhibition was held on 6^th of March and the guest of honor being our own Principal Professor Dr. Riaz Hussain Dhubh who is also the patron in chief of the Netizens society. The other respectable who graced the event with their presence were Dr. Hafiz Imitaz (Head of Anatomy Department), Dr. Khalid Mehmood (member advisory council of Netizens), Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali Tirmazi (E.N.T department), Dr. Khurram Sohail Raja, Dr. Humaira, Dr. Saeed Kkbar, Dr. Saif, Professor Dr. Ijaz Hussain Shah (Professor of oncology), Dr. Tariq Farooq (Associate professor s-5) Dr. Fakhir Hameed (s-1), Dr. Mohammad Saeed (Associate Professor E.N.T), Dr. Khalid Mehmood Bhatti (Associate Professor GCU Psychology Department), Saleem Ansari (artist), Dr. Maqsood Ahmed (Associate professor M-1), Dr. Amir Hussain, Professor Dr. Yousaf Shah, Dr. Mohammad sultan.

The color event showcased different forms of art including calligraphy, landscapes, still life, figure drawing, abstract, miniatures, handicrafts, scientific models, glass paintings ant textile designing.

The different Medias which the artists used to express themselves were oil paints, water colors, poster colors, pencil work, line work, crayons and pastels.

The contributors of the masterpieces exhibited in the event were P.M.C students and doctors.

Another attraction of the event was the handicrafts also contributed by the students of P.M.C. Among the handmade goodies the cards, money holders and mobile covers were really popular and were sold out like hot cakes. The visitors had a pleasurable time and enjoyed the various stalls.

The arts exhibition was held in the examination hall. After the organizers were done with the place it looked liked it just had an extreme makeover. The venue was intricately decorated and perfectly lit giving it a majestic look. Live music was also arranged by our own very talented Awais Butt which further added to create the atmosphere.

A voting box was also provided by the organizers so that the viewers could appreciate their favorite artist. The viewer’s choice popular award went to Rabia Arshad for her painting. The keen participation of the visitors showed that they wanted to award credit to the righteous people.

The purpose of this event was to truly depict the inner artistic of the doctors, to bring out aspiring artists and inspire others. With this effort the prior bias against doctors being called dull, scientifically cold machine was negated.

The talented artists were praised with awards which were given out in the award distribution ceremony held ob the 7^th of March. The judges included Mr. Professor Dr. Asghar Butt, Professor Dr. Asma Bajwa, Saleem Ansari and Ms. Tehmina Afzal.

The other respected doctors who also visited and attended the prize distribution ceremony are:

The two people who were the masterminds behind this event are Faisal Rasheed & Abrar Haider who are talented artists themselves. The artistic head decorator who made possible the elaborate interior was Rabia Arshad accompanied by Dania Jameel and Rabbia Pervaiz. The event also received active participation from other institutes as well including GCU and Faisalabad institute of fashion & textile designing. Parents of the students also visited and truly appreciated the effort. Families of the participating artists also visited.

On the whole arts exhibition was a smashingly power packed event. It was a highlight of the college for two days and all because of selfless efforts of the organizers.

With this function P.M.C moved a step forward towards an enlightened and encouraged P.M.C.
