Foundation Day 2008
On the evening of 18th March 2008, an annual dinner was hoisted by
the principal of PMC to mark the occasion of the foundation day of college.
Students from final year, several enthusiastic alumni and teachers gathered to
celebrate the 34th anniversary of Punjab medical college
The well lit lawn
with auditorium in the background, cool breeze blowing and smartly dressed
students buzzing around full of energy gave a festive look.
The function
started with recitation of Holy Quran by Muhammad Ali of final year, followed my
Naat by Tafseel of final year. Then the host of the evening, Dr. Javaid Iqbal
head of surgical unit IV gave an introduction of establishment of PMC and how
alumni around the globe feel pride in being a part of this prestigious
institute. Following the introductory speech was an astounding performance by
PAC ( THE PERFORMING ARTS CLUB). The performance highlighted the era
of various principals, starting from the first to the currents principal Dr.
Asghar Ali Randhawa. Various memorable events were shown from their respective
eras in a video made in a very professional way by members of NETIZENS under
PAC. The awesome act, a brand new idea and good narration of events made this
performance the main highlight of the night. Pac and the efforts of the involved
students was highly appreciated by the teachers and students attending the
function.
Then the
principal was invited on the stage to express his views. He warm heartedly
welcomed all the alumni and guests. He announced that from now onwards the
foundation day would be celebrated each year on 18th of March every
year. He also appreciated all the positive feedback he was receiving from all
the students helping him make PMC a better place for students. He also told that
air-conditioned reading rooms will be constructed in boys and girls hostels to
facilitate the students and that the mess committee has been established to
maintain a good standard of mess.
The cake cutting
ceremony followed and the principal along with alumni cut the cake to celebrate
PMC’s 34th anniversary. This was followed by a lavish dinner while
the students and teachers mingled with each other, adding yet another memorable
event to their memories associated with PMC
