Department of Community Medicine has highly
qualified staff with Dr. Farida Manzoor as Head
of Department. The rest of the team includes one
Assistant Professor and seven senior
demonstrators who are specialists in M.C.H.,
Demography, Primary Health Care, Epidemiology
and nutrition. The subject is taught in 4th year
MBBS. Guidelines laid by PMDC, UHS, CPSP and HEC
from time to time are followed. It plays a
pivotal role in preparing students for higher
medical education. The faculty members
participate from time in various workshops
related to the topics taught to the students.
The mode of education is through general
lectures, multimedia, overhead projectors,
tutorials, workshops and outfield visits.
Educational activities are so designed to
improve interpersonal communication skills and
expose the students to active and participatory
learning. Field visits make an important
component of teaching.
Moreover research has been made compulsory for
the 4th year students by UHS. Thus the students
are actively involved in supervised research
projects. The department has a beautiful museum
for undergraduate students. Learning is an
ongoing process, so the department arranges
staff development programs.
